Daniela & Björn

Dramatic outdoor elopement in Stockholm archipelago

What makes your love so special? It was one of the very first questions I asked Daniela and Björn when we started working together and I think their answer was spot on to describe them as a couple:

A lot of our friends, even the ones who aren't married kind of always come in a double pack. We however like to have our separate projects apart from shared ones. We understand that it is not our responsibility to make each other happy all of the time, but it is our responsibility to be aware of our own individual needs. We believe therefor compromises are not always what is in our best interest. We are very different people and we will of course stay that way even when we are married, but we will continue to learn and grow together even more.

They had met while studying in Stockholm and knew they wanted an adventurous elopement near Stockholm. We began looking at more established venues but in the end the choice fell on Island Lodge, a glamping site in Stockholm’s archipelago. A few days later, they invited their close friends and family to celebrate with a dinner at beautiful Rosendals Trädgårdar, one of the places originally proposed for the actual wedding.

The Wedding Day

Daniela and Björn met with their maid of honour and best man at the dock in central Stockholm to take a chartered boat to Island Lodge. Once on the stunning island, they had time to get to know the glamping tent, have hair and makeup done while also enjoying a quick cold bath and sauna.

The outdoor ceremony was held on the bare cliffs and the waves of the sea played an ideal soundtrack, enhancing the romantic moment when the couple sang their vows to one another.

After the ceremony, Champagne was served and photographer Tanya could steal the couple away for a gorgeous photo session exploring the island.

The day ended with a perfectly composed dinner under the bare sky and from what I’ve heard, a late night bath in the hot tub overlooking the sea.

Decor

The longer we planned, the more we actually moved away from the original plan of white, light and airy - instead, we opted for muted tones of green, dusty peach and beige. It turned out to be perfect fit for the forest and the dramatic landscape around.

Due to the winds, we opted for a bare cliff ceremony and built up a beautiful side table for the mingle. At the main lodge dock, the dining table was decorated with beige linen table cloth, light blue napkins draped over each place setting and drift wood laying between the gorgeous mini vases with stunningly delicate local flowers.

Nothing could have created a better backdrop than the bright orange sunset over the island.

It was definitely an elopement to remember!

Kind words from Daniela & Björn

“We have been so glad about our decision to work with Karolina as our Wedding Planner in 2021. Being from Switzerland and getting married in Sweden, we needed someone who could help us with every single step towards our Wedding and would do so with a lot of dedication and patience.
Karolina has helped us with all the things along the way, big and small, whilst always being her kind, sunny self. She understood exactly what was important to us for a small, intimate wedding and we liked that she was open-minded and would never get tired of ideas. We can only recommend Karolina wholeheartedly as a wedding planner.”
